The illustration on the left (done around 1999) was inspired by an illustration by Takahashi Rumiko of my favorite anime character, Lum from Urusei Yatsura. But while I was coloring this pic, I got the idea: "why not have the reason why the wind is so fierce is because of a rapidly-developing thunderstorm?" So this is one of my few attempts at a dramatic color/lighting scheme.

...and 14 years later, I decided to do a "better" version for several reasons: I felt I could do a better coloring job on it, I thought I hadn't gotten her muscular enough in the first version, and I wanted a higher-resolution version I could sell as a print at deviantART.
